The first virtual charity run event in Finland
Sylva ry has organised the Fuck Cancer Run to help young adults with cancer since 2017. The charity run event was virtual in 2020. The event, held for a good cause, attracted runners and supporters from all over Finland with its joyful, touching, inspiring and positive message.
The theme for 2020 was fellow travellers, and it manifested itself through friends, family members and various work teams and hobby groups encouraging each other on the paths. The event started with a mass warm-up, and the live broadcast was available via video stream or radio during the run. The event was hosted by Johanna Storck and Rebecca Kurten, and the live broadcast featured interesting guests who encouraged the other runners and told their own cancer stories. The event was also accompanied by brilliant musical performances.
Participants were very happy that the event was still held despite the exceptional circumstances. As cancer patients belong to an at-risk group, a virtual charity run was a safe and inspiring event for everyone, regardless of where they were.
